Preseason Coaches vs Cancer Tournament

Thanks to last Spring’s Beef and Bowl, the William Tennent Varsity team will be participating in the Hockey Coaches vs. Cancer tournament at The Rink at Warwick. Here is the schedule:

9/15 6:55pm CB South vs Tennent
9/23 8:35pm North Penn vs Tennent
9/30 8:35pm AB Wood vs Tennent

Championship held on 10/6 at 8:35
Consolation Game on 10/7 if team doesn’t reach Championship

Varsity Practice Starts September 12

Just a reminder, the Varsity team’s regular weekly practices will begin on Monday, September 12 at 5:40pm at Bucks County Ice Sports Center’s main rink. Players must be on time. If a player cannot make any practice, he must call one of the coaches prior to practice.  We look forward to starting the season Monday!

Training Camp Dates Announced

The dates for this season’s Training/Evaluation Camp have been annouced. The dates and times are as follows:

Bucks County Ice Sports Center – Warminster, PA

Monday 8/22    6:10-7:10 Rink 2 (Varsity – Grades 9-12)

Tuesday 8/23   6:10-7:10 Rink 2 (Varsity)

Thurs 8/25        7:50-8:50 Rink 1 (Middle School and Varsity) – Prior to this session, there will be a Parents meeting at 7:30. We ask all parents to attend, if possible. Also, parents interested in volunteering to serve on the Tennent Hockey Board can sign up at this meeting.

**The coaches suggest all players be ready to work hard throughout camp. Attendance is MANDATORY. Players are encouraged to be in shape before camp, as they will be tested during this week. We look forward to seeing you all on August 22!

2011-2012 Season Info

It’s only June, but the season will be here before you know it. Players grades 5-12 residing in the Centennial School District interested in joining the William Tennent Hockey Team are encouraged to contact the club. We will have a short training camp that takes place in mid to late August. Check back to this site for dates when they are solidified.

Our goal is to build this program throughout our Middle School and High School Levels and it all starts with you. Tennent Hockey Beef n’ Bowl – Great Success!

Coach Nick D’Aurizio and Treasurer and parent Carrie McGee put on the 1st Annual Tennent Hockey Beef n Bowl this weekend at Pike Lanes in Southampton. The event was a great success thanks to their efforts, in cooperation with fellow parents, family and friends. In all, we raised close to $1,500 for the team. This money will likely go toward entering into the preseason Coaches vs. Cancer tournament to prepare for the 2011-2012 season, a season that could quite possibly mark the return of William Tennent to the SHSHL Elite.

Nick and Carrie would like to thank Roman Delight and Maggio’s for their generous donations. They would also like to thank the Dugan family for providing delicious chicken wings, Jon Pendergast for donating the roast beef and meatballs, John Humes for donating a signed Danny Briere jersey (won by team captain DJ Mulhern!), The Trozzi Family for donating Phillies tickets, and Leslie Tercha and Liftex for donating Diamond Club Phillies tickets.

Thank you to everyone who was there! Next year will only be bigger and better.

$30 per ticket. Includes food, drinks and Door Prizes, which have been donated by local businesses such as Roman Delight and Maggio’s! A 50/50 drawing will also be held. Current Varisty and Middle School players, including outgoing seniors, are FREE.

2010-2011 Season Wrap-Up

After a tough 2009-2010 season that saw the Panthers end with a 0-16-6 record, the 2010-2011 Panthers were determined to re-establish their place in the SHSHL. Led by a new coaching staff and strong play throughout the lineup, the team exploded out of the gate with a 3-1 record. The rest of the season saw its’ ups and downs but culminated with the team returning to the SHSHL playoffs where they dropped a 5-3 heartbreaker in the first round to eventual champion Central Bucks East.

Their strong play earned the team a berth in the Flyers Cup, an invitation-only tournament featuring the top AA teams in the Eastern PA and Southern NJ area. In the first round, the 19^th ranked Tennent Panthers knocked off 14^th seeded Avon Grove 3-2 on the road for their first Flyers Cup victory in 2 years. The stage was set for a showdown with #3 ranked Washington Township (NJ). With freshman backup goalie Dan Deegan in net, Tennent surged to a 3-2 lead after 2 periods. However, fatigue caught up to the Panthers and Washington Township scored 3 unanswered goals in the 3^rd to end their Cup run.

In spite of the tough loss, the William Tennent Panthers played well above and beyond expectations for the season. The team has a bright future entering next year with a strong young team poised to make more noise in the SHSHL and Flyers Cup.

The William Tennent Coaching Staff would like to congratulate our graduating Seniors Eric Horrox, AJ Carbone, Cameron Goodell, Regis Kubit and Tom Rook. As they move on, we are confident that our underclassmen are ready to step in and fill the leadership void that these players have left behind. It has been a pleasure to coach the 5 of you these past 4 years.

Panther’s Alumni Ed DeWald commits to D1 Mercyhurst

Former Panther Ed DeWald has committed to Mercyhurst College, a Division 1 NCAA school.  Ed will play next season with the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers Jr. A team in the Atlantic Junior Hockey League.  Ed has committed to the 2011 season with Mercyhurst.  Congratulations and Good Luck Ed!
